SPEECH OF CHAIRMAN ADVISORY BOARD SHRI RAJEEV SHUKLA, M. P.
At the outset I would like to say my sincere thanks to my team and fellow members in the advisory board and executive board of India China Trade Centre for providing their support during last year. I also congratulate the working team under the guidance of Mr. P. N. Sharma and headship of Mr. V. K. Mishra for making many achievements in the year 2008-2009.
During the year many members and patrons provided outstanding support mainly Sinosteel India and MESCO Steel, we appeal all to continue providing support and patronage to your organization.
Commerce Ministry of India has provided full cooperation and patronage and Chinese Embassy in India has provided regular support especially commercial department has provided guidance and information, which has resulted in outstanding growth in bilateral trade. The trade between the two countries reached a historical high during the last calendar year. China is now the largest trading partner of India.
Events which were significant have been mentioned in annual report, it show the glimpse of activities making India China Trade Centre popular amongst the trade community and even the other chambers are coming forward for joint events. I want to mention mile stone achieved by ICTC, Signing of further cooperation agreement with CCCMC, (Chinese Chamber of Commerce for Metal, Minerals and Chemicals), Cooperation agreement with China Foreign Trade Centre (Organizer of Canton Fair), Cooperation agreement with Organizing committee of China International Auto Parts Expo (CIAPE), Cooperation agreement with China – ASEAN Expo Secretariat, Cooperation agreement with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry etc.
In coming year we propose to establish a regular research wing in the trade centre for providing guidance of industry basis and releasing report, monographs etc. we should also organize more lecture series, workshops and seminars so that we can enlarge the base of members and also associate state government and public sector unites for more vibrancy in the trade activities. We should focus more on steel, commodities, raw materials, Ferro alloys, engineering goods, technology transfers, banking and knowledge industry, capital equipment for power and infrastructure industries.
There are suggestion from industries and members for taking some concrete steps in confidence building between two sides of corporate rather I will use the world TRUST. Now time has come to make some policies by Chambers like us to form trade guidelines and manner in which industry should work to build TRUST as large stake are already in place to be taken care in long term manner.
Our Centre will make an apple for grant from commerce ministry of India and for sponsorship from industry to open a full office in Shanghai, P. R.C.
Again I would like to say my sincere thanks to all the Directors, Staff Members and Bankers for extending services and support to the organization.
Thank you,
