Condolence Resolution
Dr. Nitish Kumar Sengupta was one of the founders, the Vice-Chairman and a guiding spirit of India China Trade Centre. He was actively involved in all activities, events and programmes of ICTC till the very last. We lost Dr. Sengupta on 3rd November 2013 due to a massive cardiac arrest.
Born on 8th July 1933, Dr. Sengupta studied at Presidency College in Calcutta and joined IAS in 1957. Dr. Sengupta played an important and vital role in revitalization of Capital markets in 1980s.
After retirement in 1992, Dr. Sengupta became more involved in education and other noble causes. He was responsible as the Director General, IMI, in building it in to a leading management institute. Dr Sengupta was a Member of the 13th Lok Sabha from West Bengal. He was also the Chairman of the Board for Reconstruction for Central Public Sector Enterprises.
Dr Sengupta will be greatly missed by ICTC as his passing away has left a deep sense of void amongst all of as he was closely associated with all activities of the organization. His benign nature enabled all of us, irrespective of stature, to freely interact with him.
We pray to almighty to give the bereaved family courage in facing this sudden loss.
For India China Trade Centre
