India-China Technology Transfer and Investment Conference
“2nd India–China Technology Transfer, Collaborative Innovation and Investment Conference” was organised on 16-17 November 2017 at Le Meridien Hotel, New Delhi. The Conference was organised by the India China Trade Center (ICTC) in cooperation with China’s Yunnan Academy of Scientific and Technical Information (YASTI). Shri Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry in his inaugural video message for the conference said that India and China can play a key role in the world economy by collaborating in the field of science and technology. He conveyed his best wishes for the success of this conference.
The conference was supported by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Union Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Food Processing (NIFTEM), National Research and Development Center (NRDC), FITT -IIT Delhi, TIFAC, Cluster Innovation Center University of Delhi, TiE Delhi etc.
In a special session Shri Y. S. Choudhary Union Minister of Science- Technology & Earth Sciences, Government of India inaugurated the B2B workshop and unveiled the project technology broacher. While inaugurating the same he said that India and China are trade and knowledge partners since the time of Taxila and Nalanda, and this partnership rests on ancient historical traditions. He further emphasized that this kind of event will not only facilitate increase in trade, but the technology transfer will also help in balancing the trade between two nations. The Project brochure contains details of validated and transfer ready technologies from India and China. These technologies have been validated for their commercial viability by the India China Trade Center and the concerned technology development and transfer organizations. Shri Chaudhary further said that due to many programs like Make in India, Digital India, Smart City and Start-up India launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is developing at a fast pace and China’s cooperation in the form of technology transfer and investments will prove to be a win-win for both the nations. He further said that there are excellent diplomatic relations between the two countries and an enhanced technology transfer and investment cooperation between India and China will make them two most powerful nations in the 21st century.
Mr. Hou Shuqian, Director General – Yunnan Academy of Science and Technology (YAST) presented a salt water battery lantern to Shri Choudhury. In this lantern salt water is filled which not only makes it light up to 6 hours but also facilitate of charging of cell phones.
H.E. Mr. Luo Zhaohui, Chinese Ambassador to India while addressing the conference highlighted that China and India share many similarities in development stage, population size and demand to improve people’s well-being. He further said that two sides can share their development philosophies, policies and experiences, engage in mutual learning, draw on each other’s merits in a bid to achieve common development.
Mr. Rajeev Shukla, President of ICTC welcomed the guests and insisted on finding business opportunities from both the countries and cooperation in the field of science and technology. Mr. V K Mishra, Executive Vice-Chairman of the India China Trade Center and Chairman of the India China Technologies Transfer Center, welcomed the guests and conveyed that the two countries would go ahead and move faster by cooperating with each other. He said that India China Trade Center will continue to support businesses and other organizations from both the countries to come closer and grow together. He appreciated the contribution of Mr. Ma Minxiang, Director General, Yunnan Academy of Science and Technology Information (YASTI) and Chinese government in the past two years in promoting technology collaboration between India and China.
Conference was organized around four technical sessions exploring technology and investment cooperation in areas like Agri & Food Processing Sector and Bio-Technology & Pharma Industry; Infrastructure, Smart City and Information Technology; Energy, New Energy and Hybrid Vehicles and Investment Opportunity, Regulatory Affairs, Legal etc., where 30+ experts and Companies delegation from China have participated. Conference was addressed by around forty powerful and authoritative speakers from both the countries on issues that are both timely and important to the stakeholders involved.
On the side-lines of the conference a large number of Indian and Chinese organizations displayed their transfer ready technologies. B2B meetings between technology and investment providers and seekers was arranged on Day 2 of the conference. This B2B session was attended by around 150+ Chinese and Indian Companies. This successful event also led to initiation of more than $1 billion worth technology transfer and investment projects.
On conclusion participants expressed their satisfaction over the theme and the quality of the plenary talks and the way the conference was organized.
