An Indian delegation led by Dr. TCA Raghavan, Director General of Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) and comprising Prof. Kulbhushan Warikoo, Editor of “Himalayan and Central Asian Studies” Journal and Research Fellows of ICWA Dr. Athar Zafar and Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, attended the 14th meeting of “SCO Forum” hosted by the China Institute of International Studies in Beijing on 17-18 April 2019.
The 14th meeting of SCO Forum held wide ranging discussions on topical issues of political, security, economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation under the SCO framework and made specific proposals for further enhancing SCO cooperation for consideration of the forthcoming meeting of Council of SCO Heads of State in Bishkek in June 2019.
In his speech, Dr TCA Raghavan welcomed the initiatives aimed at implementing the June 2018 Joint Appeal of the SCO Heads of State to the Youth, and expressed India’s willingness to share its experience in such areas as human resource development, agriculture, medical and wellness tourism, information technology, finance, space, renewable energy etc.
SCO Forum, established in 2006, is a “Track- II” consultative mechanism of the Think- Tanks of SCO members, providing research support to the activities of SCO. The National Institute for Strategic Studies of the Kyrgyz Republic will host the 15th meeting of the SCO Forum in 2020.
