India and China Celebrate 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations with Leaders’ Congratulatory Messages and Special Event Organized by Chinese Embassy in India

India and China marked a significant diplomatic milestone on April 1, 2025, with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two nations. This occasion was commemorated through a series of exchanges, including congratulatory messages from the leaders of both countries and a special event organized by the Chinese Embassy in India, highlighting the enduring partnership and potential for future collaboration.

The event, brought together senior diplomats and officials from both countries, including Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong. The ceremony saw a gathering of distinguished guests from various sectors, including government officials, diplomats, business leaders, academicians, and journalists. The evening featured speeches underscoring the deep historical and cultural ties between India and China, celebrating not only their political and economic cooperation but also the thriving people-to-people exchanges that have flourished over the decades.

Diplomatic Leaders Reflect on Strong Bilateral Ties

Speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong emphasized that the stable and sound development of China-India relations serves the fundamental interests of both countries and meets the common aspirations of regional nations. He noted that the relationship between China and India, both home to over a billion people, is one of the most significant bilateral ties in the world, carrying global weight.

 

 

Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also addressed the gathering, highlighting the positive developments in India-China relations over recent months. He noted the recent high-level meetings, including those between the foreign ministers, special representatives on border issues, and defense ministers. Misri expressed optimism about the future of India-China ties, citing his productive visit to Beijing earlier in the year as an example of the ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the two countries.

Pleasantries Exchanged Between Leaders

On this landmark occasion, Indian and Chinese leaders exchanged congratulatory messages, reinforcing their commitment to strengthening ties and advancing mutual interests.

Chinese President Xi Jinping conveyed his warm wishes to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, noting that both countries are at a critical stage in their respective modernization efforts. Xi underscored the significance of the “Dragon-Elephant Tango,” symbolizing the potential for both nations to achieve mutual prosperity. He emphasized that China and India should view their relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective, focusing on peaceful coexistence, mutual trust, and common development.

“I am ready to work with President Droupadi Murmu to enhance strategic mutual trust and strengthen cooperation in various fields,” Xi said in his message. “Together, we can contribute to world peace and prosperity.”

In response, President Murmu highlighted that India and China, as two major neighboring countries representing one-third of the world’s population, have a shared responsibility to promote regional and global stability. She called for the 75th anniversary to serve as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations and foster a future of sustainable development and peace.

Similarly, Premier Li Qiang of China exchanged congratulatory messages with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Li reaffirmed China’s commitment to enhancing mutual trust and cooperation with India, particularly in resolving long-standing issues, such as border concerns, through dialogue.

Prime Minister Modi, in his reply, acknowledged the critical role both nations play in shaping global peace and development. He emphasized the shared responsibility of India and China in contributing to a multipolar world. Modi expressed his belief that the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations would mark the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship, characterized by stability, cooperation, and mutual respect.
